It’s now time for Best Interior Designers to present you with the list of winners and to show you what were the top moments of the biggest night in the movie industry!
The films “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” and “Shape of Water” were amongst the top nominees and were the heavy favourites to take the top award home and they didn’t disappoint. “The Shape of Water” took home 4 Oscars, including the prestigious Oscars for Best Director (Guillermo Del Toro) and Best Picture. This film also won the Oscars for Best Production Design and Best Soundtrack (Alexander Desplat).
“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” was the heavy favourite to win Best Picture, but had to settle for the Academy Awards for Best Actress (Frances McDormand) and Best Supporting Actor (Sam Rockwell), but at least McDormand had the evening’s most powerful speech and, despite being the longest, she deserved to take home the jet ski that host Jimmy Kimmel promised to give to the Oscar Winner that gave the shorter speech!
Who eventually won the Jet Ski was the Custom Designer Mark Bridges that accepted the Oscar of Best Costume Design for his work on the powerful drama “Phantom Thread”. As you may have already guessed, Bridges gave Paul Thomas Anderson’s movie the only Oscar of the night.
The star of “Phantom Thread”, Daniel Day-Lewis lost the Oscar For Best Actor to his British friend Gary Oldman. “Darkest Hour” also won the Oscar for Best Make-Up. Amongst the blockbusters, “Dunkirk” and “Blade Runner 2049” were the most nominated films and confirmed they’re favoritism in the technical categories. “Dunkirk” took home the Oscars for Best Sound Mixing, Sound Editing and Film Editing. “Blade Runner 2049” triumphed in the two major visual categories: Best Cinematography and Visual Effects.
One of the biggest surprises and highlights of the night was the victory of “Get Out” and its creator Jordan Peele in the Best Original Screenplay category. The Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay was awarded to the romantic drama “Call Me By Your Name”.
The blockbuster animation “Coco” from Pixar Animations won the Oscars For Best Animated Film and Best Original Song. The Chilean drama “A Fantastic Women” won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film. Also worth mentioning is the Oscar for Best Animation Short Film that was awarded to former basketball player Kobe Bryant for his screenwriting work on “Dear Basketball”.
All in all, it was a memorable night with some touching and emotional and inspiring acceptance speeches. As music goes we can highlight the stunning performance os double Oscar nominee Mary J. Blige that gave an astounding performance of “Might River,” from her film, “Mudbound”. The film didn’t won a single Oscar, but Blidge gave a strong show!
Within the funny moments’ category, we must highlight the Homage to the Audience. As the ultimate “thank you” to movie-goers around the world, host Jimmy Kimmel took a group of stars across the street from the Oscars ceremony to a Movie Theater, where they surprised the audience with snacks and stars! A funny moment that categorizes Kimmel’s performance as host!
In what looked like a repeat of the 2017 Oscars, Hollywood legends Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway returned to the Oscar’s Stage to present the award for Best Picture to “Shape of Water. Making sure not to repeat the incorrect winner, they triumphantly announced the winner correctly to the dismay of the fans of the other eight nominees!
As for the Red Carpet, the Fashion Pre-Show of the Oscars, we can say that was a success. We noticed a full range of trends, colors and beautiful dresses. Unlike what happened on the Golden Globes Ceremonies, most stars opted not to wear Black in honor of the Me Too Movement, but nonetheless, they pay their homage to women in form of their interviews, speeches and amazing dress.
Amongst the Best Dresses of the the Night we stand out Sandra Bullock, Margot Robbie, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Emily Blunt, Saoirse Ronan and Sally Hawkings. They hit the fashion target and got praises from fashion critics all around the world!
