Bilhuber is recognized for his fresh spin on classic design and is universally acknowledged as one of this country’s most respected and talented designers. As stated by Sara Ruffin Costello in The Wall Street Journal, ‘Jeffrey Bilhuber has sealed his legacy as a design pioneer on par with phenoms like Albert Hadley’. From Manhattan projects large and small; easygoing country retreats; townhouses in London to signature hotels and engaging museum and gallery spaces; Bilhuber always manages to mold his creative aesthetic to complement the functional and visual needs of his clientele, creating rooms that are a reflection of personal histories, not grand gestures of presentation.

One of Bilhuber’s exclusive projects is Tuxedo Park Home. The residence is located in New York. The fact that the house had been in the client’s family for three generations was a first serious challenge for the designer. As he said it was necessary that “We bring the house forward without turning our backs on a history that had provided so much pleasure”.

The house has been already an object of interior design amateurs’ works. This was an additional challenge for they designer. Before Jeffrey Bilhuber, there were many “designers” that had given the house periodic doses of modernity and zip. They chose crystal chandeliers that were overpowering or aggressively graphic wallpapers.

So the “canvas” was not a Bilhuber’s choice but he decided to give it a try. He looked at it like at an opportunity. Beside that, there was a wonderful accumulation of continental furniture that allowed him to connect to the house’s own history as well as to delve into its history a hyper-exclusive enclave in New Yorl’s Rampo Mountains.

Bilhuber is happiest doing what he does best—creating environments for real people and families to inhabit.  With each project, Bilhuber helps his clients achieve a style to suit their needs, taking their own taste and making it better.  He frequents the grand antiquaries, modernist designers’ studios, and artists’ ateliers where these lifestyle needs are best met.  Bilhuber’s unlikely combinations of plain with fancy and new with old make for dwellings as fascinating as they are functional. Bilhuber’s creativity and seemingly inexhaustible supply of energy, combined with an uncanny ability to connect with his clients’ needs, has resulted in an ever-increasing roster of exquisite spaces and ecstatic repeat clientele.
