This keynote aims to provide an opportunity for all those involved in finding homes for, who foster or have an interest in caring for children who are or are descendants of Africa and the Caribbean – offering an alternative perspective and to share ideas for how to holistically nurture the African and Caribbean child.
Dr Arlene Weekes is a social work service manager, lecturer, trainer, independent adoption vice chair and fostering panel chair who believes that fostering and adoption panel members should be more conscious of their biases and trained beyond just knowing the National Minimum Standards.
