So it will be very long lasting. So it will be not outdated,” she articulates, emphasizing the essence of timeless design akin to enduring jewelry.

Discussing her expectations from furniture companies, especially for larger-scale projects, Fiona Lau anticipates the ‘wow factor.’ “I’m expecting to see the wow factor and very unique design from from the furniture company,” she notes, seeking inspiration for her expansive 20,000 square foot modern luxury home. Her recent encounter with a furniture brand left a lasting impression. “I do see this furniture brand is very delicate. So every pieces, they are all handmade with, with heart, with, with the very delicate thinking and consideration to make these beautiful pieces,” Fiona Lau remarks, expressing admiration for the brand’s craftsmanship and unique character.

Fiona Lau finds an alluring balance in the furniture collection, observing its ability to merge modernity and tradition. “I like the furniture because like some of the pieces are very modern and with the wow factor, it will bring the like a focal point to the house,” she explains, highlighting its diverse appeal to modern and classic sensibilities.

Detailing an ongoing project—a luxurious 20,000 square foot modern home in a gated community—Lau unveils its opulent features. “And then I believe one of the safe balls from your collection will really fit into it, because he can put the safe out in the in the garage, that he can showcase cars, and then he can put his car key into the safe house,” Lau envisions integrating a safe from the furniture collection into the lavish garage space.

In Fiona Lau’s eyes, the meticulousness and organization of a Portuguese manufacturer stand out. “But this one is really nice and clean. And then I feel like this is very organized. So it’s like step by step, very organized, very professional,” she commends, reflecting on her first-time experience at the manufacturing facility. Through Fiona Lau’s lens, design isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s a narrative woven with threads of timelessness, craftsmanship, and exclusivity. Her pursuit of design excellence resonates in the enduring legacy she endeavors to create within luxury interiors.

Chicago, USA – Natasha Chatkin, CN Interiors

“I’m really impressed because, first of all, now each piece speaks by itself. When I saw, you know, from the scratch, from the drawings, how you created these masterpieces, I would say each of them are masterpieces, how much craftsmanship is involved, and what kind of quality is that.”

Covet Group is a place where each piece tells a story of meticulous craftsmanship, and Natasha Chatkin was genuinely moved by the depth of creativity and quality that goes into our designs.

Syria and Lebanon – Salah Kabouni, Kabouni Electrical Engineering

“We were expecting to see more machines and more production lines, something like this, we didn’t expect to see all this done by hand.”

Salah Kabouni’s surprise echoes a sentiment shared by many. Covet Group defies the norms of mass production, focusing on the art of handmade creations, resulting in exceptional pieces that truly stand out.

United Kingdom – Alessandra Melchiorri and Joy Lagmay-Jay, 1508 London

“I mean, it was much larger than I expected. Even the metalwork was quite extensive, and there was just a large volume of people in one room, in one space. And again, what you just said is really amazing the fact that you guys do everything in-house.”

Alessandra Melchiorri and Joy Lagmay-Jay were pleasantly surprised by the scale of our operations, particularly in the metalwork department. Covet Group’s commitment to in-house craftsmanship allows us to create pieces that are truly one-of-a-kind.

Morocco – Omar Taoudi, Roy Design Sarl

“It was very interesting because we can feel that products are worked by love. We can feel the love of what they are doing because it’s very manual and very specific. So when you see it, each product is different from another.”

Omar Taoudi beautifully articulates the essence of Covet Group- the love, passion, and precision that go into each product, ensuring that no two pieces are ever the same.

Qatar – Alicia Pérez, Luna Design

“The space that we are going to create is going to be for you, and you need to feel comfortable. Of course, we’ll take into consideration all the trends, but I’ll tell them: we’ll do this together and I’ll guide you into creating the most beautiful space that is also functional and making up to your needs.”

Alicia Pérez emphasizes the client-centric approach of Covet Group, where each space is a personalized masterpiece that balances beauty and functionality.

United Arab Emirates – Jonida Puka and Diana Muschei, House of Aida

“We try to follow up all the new trends, like, for example, like this invitation that you’ve done to us. So, it’s good to be aligned with the new ideas and give us inspiration as well.”

Jonida Puka and Diana Muschei highlight the importance of staying on the cutting edge of design, and Covet Groupconstantly strives to provide inspiration to designers and clients alike.

About Maison&Objet

For 27 years, SAFI, a division of Ateliers d’Art de France and RX France, has been interacting with and connecting the global design, home décor, and lifestyle communities through Maison&Objet. What is its distinguishing feature? Its exceptional capacity for fostering relationships and fostering business growth, both at tradeshows and on its digital platform, as well as its exceptional ability to identify and highlight trends that will beat with the beat of the home design world. The goal of Maison&Objet is to inspire people both online and off by showcasing talent, igniting connections, and providing inspiration.

Maison&Objet and more, often known as MOM, was introduced in 2016 and allows brands and buyers to communicate virtually and year-round while also launching collections. The monthly collection of intriguing new discoveries continuously boosts industry activity.

Maison Et Objet 2023 | Designer Of The Year

In 1977, Raphael Navot was born in Jerusalem, Israel. After graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven with a Bachelor’s degree in Conceptual Design in 2003, he relocated to Paris and began studying interior architecture and design. He has a diverse range of multidisciplinary projects in his portfolio, from examples of hospitality interiors to both bespoke and commercial product design, all of which highlight French workmanship and talent. He collaborated with David Lynch on the creation of the Parisian nightclub Silencio (2011), worked with Oscar Ono (2016) to produce a highly technical line of end-grain flooring, and designed 12 families of furniture for Roche Bobois, including couches, tables, rugs, and lamps (2018). The designer’s 2017 work on the Hôtel National des Arts et Métiers, however, may have been his most important project to yet. Take a look ate some quotes from Raphael Navot!

Noble Materials and a Philosophical Approach

Hotel Belle Plage Cannes

“I am not sure there is a visual manner that can describe my aesthetics, although all the projects derive from similar values and hopefully establish a uniform style. Natural materials and traditional craft are always present, often bespoke for each project and with certain attributes of organic forms. I often opt to achieve an experience that is somewhat timeless. Timelessness for me is a non-decorative quality that does not refer to trends or certain motives that are associated with a specific period. I often think that good interiors seem as if they have always been there.”

Breakthrough Projects and Development

“Low Overlap” Table and “Palm” Sofa

“Silencio, a joint effort between David Lynch and I, was the first project I am known to have worked on. When I look back, I can see that natural materials were used and that local crafts were already being included. However, in terms of concepts, Hotel National des Arts et Métiers represents my first true breakthrough because it covers so many facets of what I have continued to do up until this point. It was absolutely reasonable for me to redirect the guest’s attention back to what I then referred to as The Natural Future because I had complete independence from a very bold and liberal owner. We had a sizable staff, a sizable budget, and plenty of time—all things that are rare and valuable for any kind of building.”

Exploring The Narrative In The Context

Hotel National Des Arts Et Metiers

“I love the idea of teaming with brands because you tap into a story, but I need to understand and endorse their story first. I think what was interesting for me with Roche Bobois is the fact that it is a French brand that works internationally and produces in Europe with high-quality and natural materials. The collaboration with them was extremely pleasant as they have incredible contact with so many artisans and manufacturers. Working on such scale was very exciting as the possibility of manufacturing is very different than working with a gallery.

The Apothem Lounge

“The Apothem Lounge, which is the project I have designed for the upcoming edition of Maison&Objet, will be an immersive installation of light and textures that portrays a visual emotion. This large circular hall is designed to invite its guests to experience interiors regardless of its functionality or context. Just like a theatrical stage where the guests are the actors in a scene. Interior design is a form of scenography, it is made to set up a mood. This mood will be brought to the guests through light, colours, comfort, and many other elements that are responsible for the experiences that might occur in this particular interior.”

seletti top brands paris

Italian pop brand Seletti returns to Maison&Objet with a new retail shop-in-shop concept, displaying the brand’s new collections. A brick-like pattern wraps the facade, and tents top the windows that double as showcases. Through the openings, visitors can take a look at the new collections and feel like they are in a real Seletti store. A black and white checkered flooring welcomes the guests to the interior. Modular pieces of furniture such as platforms and bookcases take over the inside.

maison et objet paris 2022

Metaverse, the new ElDorado for designers and entrepreneurs. Meta Sensible, this year’s inspiration theme. Paris Design Week invites us to step inside the kind of world of which we’ve all been dreaming. Hold up a comparative mirror to the sensorial and intangible, feel the emotion sparked by handcrafted wares and be moved by the sight of a digital work of art destined to be installed in a “Meta” interior, without in any way feeling torn between the two.

color trends paris 2022

A selection of colors that counters the ambient doom! From vases, textiles, baskets, hampers to chairs, discover pieces in a thoughtful palette that energize and set the tone for interiors, just as it provokes our senses and emotions!

Prime examples would be the sofas from Italian brand Saba, which are retailed in NFT form, or the rounded lines of the latest vividly colored creations presented by Mojow or Pols Potten.  At the other end of the spectrum, we are witnessing a return to natural materials and textures, artisan pieces and craftsmanship.

Dreams are already a reality. François Delclaux has put them center stage with simple, dreamlike objects. Colors are faded, with powder pink, aqua, and cloudy grey…From the veiled setting, mysteriously gossamer lighting emerges like a dream, and lightweight, poetic furniture softens the edges of everyday life. The theme of utopia is at the heart of experimentation and contemporary debates, François Delclaux tells us. Its shapes can already be seen in this resilient home.

“The physical world is no longer in opposition with its digital counterpart. Better still, the two worlds merge and cross-fertilise, mutually enhancing each other”, analyses Vincent Grégoire from the NellyRodi agency, who forged the concept.
