International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the achievements of women but also marking a call for action and equity.  Celebrated annually on 8 March and recognised by the UN.  For Serendipity Institute for Black Arts and Heritage, International Women’s Day is an opportunity to highlighting the issues face by women from the African and African Caribbean Diaspora.

In 2023, with growing pressure to recognise the interconnected impact of climate change, environmental racism and gender inequity.   Serendipity programmed a selection of short films that examined this intersectionality whilst also offering hope through Afrofuturism, art and activism. Centring the stories of women who are making change to safeguard their communities and the environment.
